"There should be more people like you in the world" John Hughes

Twenty years ago I bought my first home in Southlake for $83 000 and to be honest I moved there for two reasons, one because as a single mother, it was close to my family and two, because it was pretty much all I could afford. After all these years I am still here and Cockburn has become my home and the place I live by choice.

Fast forward 20 years...

Confident and proud with a grown up extended family we are all achieving in our own way, what many may have thought impossible. Tertiary educated, a qualified Local Government Councillor, experienced CEO, 2017 UWA MBA candidate, Order of Australia Medal Recipient, NAVY Defence Service Medal, Telstra Business Woman of the Year Finalist and Australian of the Year Nominee.

Many know me as the foster carer and founder of HALO Leadership the award winning organisation that changed the lives of 100's of young people in Cockburn and Western Australia. Working with those young people was at times heart breaking but mostly inspiring. I never met anybody that didn't want to learn how to read, get a job or imagined a better life. Lobbying Government for funds and trying to change the system eventually took i'ts toll and 4 years ago I walked away and headed back to the corporate world managing Governance training across Asia for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

It didn't take long for me to return to the not for profit sector where I have now become a sought after CEO leading state sporting and health organisations. I currently sit on the board of Trade up (women in trades), Thyroid WA, Treasurer of the Australian Local Government Women's Association and was very recently appointed the proud Patron of K9 Dog Rescue because every dog deserves a home.

I bring to council an inspiring style of leadership, that respects the foundations laid before. I believe in strategies that opens new doors benefiting everyone in my Ward regardless of background or social position. Cockburn. My experience, commitment, feedback from community, the WA Local Government Association and Department of Local Government leaves me feeling confident and excited about my next term on Council.

I look forward to my residents getting to know me betterover the next 4 years.
